German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd has ordered 24 new container ships in China by the end of 2024.

The trade dispute between the US and China is gaining new momentum – and German companies are again caught in the middle. If US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer has his way, Chinese-owned or Chinese-manufactured container ships will soon be charged if they want to dock at American ports. This could mean an additional fee of up to USD 2.5 million per port visit.
