Germany submits the next emission allowances from the coal phase-out to Brussels for deletion on time. It is now clear that the „market stability reserve“ has also taken the allowances for the 2021 closures, which were not formally deleted, off the market.

On Wednesday, the German government passed another batch of emission allowances to be deleted as part of the coal phase-out. According to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), Germany has thus registered the deletion of 514,000 allowances with the EU on time for 2023. According to the ministry, this will „secure the climate action effect of the coal phase-out.“
