The newly formed German Bundestag Committee on the Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety will be chaired by a climate policy expert in the upcoming 21st legislative period. Yesterday, Lorenz Gösta Beutin from the parliamentary group The Left was elected chair of the committee, which will accompany and monitor the work of the Environment Ministry under Carsten Schneider (SPD). The committee has 38 members, each of whom has a deputy.
