With demonstrative unity across many country groups, 17 heads of state backed the Brazilian presidency of the COP30 at a short virtual meeting on Wednesday. At the meeting, hosted by Brazil’s President Lula da Silva and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the heads of state declared that they „cannot, must not and will not let up on climate action“, as Guterres explained after the meeting in New York.
