The Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs has spoken out against the recommendation of the European transmission system operators to divide the German electricity price zone into five bidding zones. „Our position is clear – we are sticking to the single German-Luxembourgish electricity bidding zone,“ a spokesperson announced on Monday. The BMWK shares the assessment of the German grid operators that the assumptions of the bidding zone review do not lead to a meaningful picture and, as a result, systematically overestimate the positive effects of a bidding zone division.
