Meyer Burger’s solar system production in Freiberg is threatened with closure due to competition from China.

The EU Commission does not intend to protect the domestic solar industry from competition from Chinese dumping by imposing trade restrictions. However, it advocates for ambitious sustainability and resilience criteria.

There will be no tariffs on the import of Chinese solar modules in the EU for the time being. In a letter to the member states, Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson instead urges the member states to promote facilities from domestic production.
