UN climate chief Simon Stiell criticizes: the current national climate plans (NDCs) will hardly reduce emissions by 2030.

According to UN climate chief Simon Stiell, the existing climate plans of UN countries will hardly reduce emissions by 2030. He said humanity only has „two years to save the world.“ In the run-up to the IMF and World Bank spring meetings, Stiell has a clear idea of what is needed to achieve this.

One week before the spring meeting of the World Bank and the IMF, Simon Stiell, Executive Director of the UN Climate Change Program, used drastic words to call for serious climate action steps. At an event in London, Stiell said there are only „two years left to save the world“ because „the next two years are so essential in saving our planet.“
