Not everything was better in the past , but it was colder. This is clearly shown by the long-term measurement data of the German Weather Service (DWD). Over a period of 30 years – the time span in which weather data are condensed into climate statements according to scientific definition – the measurements show how the winters in Germany have become warmer. Depending on their location in Germany, cities have warmed significantly in the period 1990 to 2020 compared with the previous 30 years: by around one degree Celsius on average.
