Done: Parliament President Roberta Metsola informs the Council of Parliament’s confirmation of the Von der Leyen Commission.

370 MEPs from the EPP, S&D, Renew, ECR and Greens voted in favor of the new Commission. This gave the College 88 votes more than it needed for confirmation. No SPD MEP voted yes – in protest against EPP group leader Weber’s „cuddling up“ to far-right parties.

The second Von der Leyen Commission was elected with 370 out of 688 votes cast. There were 282 votes against and 36 abstentions. The College therefore received 88 more votes than it needed to be confirmed. In 2019, the College had received 401 votes in favor. Without the votes of the ECR (33) and the Greens (27), the Commission would not have had a majority this time.
