Electricity price zone: BMWK rejects division.

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWK) has spoken out against the recommendation of the European transmission system operators to divide the German electricity price zone into five bidding zones. „Our position is clear – we are sticking to the single German-Luxembourgish electricity bidding zone,“ a spokesperson announced on Monday. The BMWK shares the assessment of the German grid operators that the assumptions of the bidding zone review do not lead to a meaningful vision and, as a result, systematically overestimate the positive effects of a bidding zone division.
