Transport politician Jens Gieseke (CDU) wants to know in a written question whether the Commission intends to bring forward the review of the CO2 fleet legislation. The manufacturers’ lobby association, ACEA, had considered asking the Commission to stop penalties amounting to €15 billion for 2025 by means of an emergency article.

The automotive umbrella organiza tion ACEA does not want to call on the Commission to use the emergency clause of the European Treaties, Article 122, to suspend fines for fleet limits and postpone them for two years. According to reports in Brussels, there was not enough support among manufacturers for ACEA President Luca de Meo’s proposal.
