The SPD is open to splitting the German electricity price zone in the coalition negotiations. „We are examining the design of electricity bidding zones from an efficiency perspective,“ the Social Democrats’ negotiators in the climate and energy working group wrote in their paper. However, the CDU/CSU wrote a different position in the paper: „We are sticking to a single electricity bidding zone.“ In the event of a division, higher exchange prices for electricity would apply in some parts of Germany than in others.
