The European Parliament wants an equal seat at the table when it comes to EU finances.

In its mandate, the European Parliament is pushing for more involvement in budgetary and fiscal policy. It wants to receive the relevant documents „at the same time and under the same conditions“ as the Council.

The European Parliament wants to massively increase its influence in the coordination of economic and budgetary policy as part of the new European debt rules. This is set out in the mandate for the negotiations on the new EU fiscal rules, which MEPs agreed on in Strasbourg.
