The EU Commission is making concessions to the UK in the dispute over tariffs for the British province of Northern Ireland. However, the catalog of measures presented on Wednesday by Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič leaves out key demands of the government in London. The EU does want to slim down customs regulations and controls on goods traffic between the British heartland and Northern Ireland. However, the state union is not prepared to make changes to the Northern Ireland Protocol, which the United Kingdom considers indispensable.
