The European Commission wants to tap into natural deposits of geologically stored hydrogen. Commission Vice-President Stéphane Séjourné therefore wants to map underground reserves of so-called white hydrogen in the European Union and develop legislation for sustainable production. This was revealed in a publication on the EU tender portal on Monday. The reasons are the European goals for climate action, economic security, energy sovereignty, and the integration of the energy system.
