The EU Commission has published an internal estimate of how much green hydrogen the industrial, shipping and aviation sectors must legally use by 2030. The obligations are based on quotas from the Renewable Energy Directive (RED3) and the ReFuelEU Aviation and FuelEU Maritime regulations. „The Commission’s internal estimate for the use of renewable hydrogen by 2030 based on the above-mentioned binding targets is three to six million tons,“ writes Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen in a response to a parliamentary question.
