The EU Commission has criticized the linking of the classifieds service Facebook Marketplace with the social network Facebook. Meta had abused its dominant market position.

The Commission accuses Meta of linking its classified ad service Facebook Marketplace with its social network in such a way that competitors suffer unfair disadvantages as a result. The fine will be paid into the EU budget.

The European Commission has imposed a fine of €797.72 million on Meta. It accuses the company of violating EU antitrust rules. Meta had linked its online classifieds service Facebook Marketplace with its social network Facebook and imposed unfair trading conditions on other providers of online classifieds services.
