More than half of the EU targets for a pollutant-free environment are at risk of not being achieved by 2030 – including the target for reducing municipal waste.

A monitoring report shows which targets of the European Commission’s action plan „Zero Pollution of Air, Water and Soil“ are unlikely to be achieved. This could affect more than half of the EU targets for these areas by 2030. To remedy the situation, EU Environment Commissioner Jessika Roswall wants to take greater account of the targets in legislation.

More than half of the EU’s targets for a pollution-free environment are at risk of not being achieved by 2030 – according to a pollution-free monitoring report published on Monday by the European Environment Agency and the EU Commission’s Joint Research Center.
