Employees on assignments in other EU countries must prove they are covered by social security via the A-1 certificate.

The Belgian Council Presidency has failed in its attempt to negotiate an agreement on Regulation 883 on social policy. This also concerns proof of social insurance for employees working abroad in the EU (A1 certificate). The European Parliament does not want to negotiate on partial aspects, but only on the entire dossier.

The Belgian Council Presidency’s attempts to find a compromise on Regulation 883 on the coordination of social security systems have failed. According to information from Table. Media, the European Parliament refuses to reach an agreement in some sections, as proposed by Belgium. The Council Presidency wanted to negotiate an agreement on two aspects of the regulation:
