Renewables: 26 states delay acceleration

Wind farms are to be planned and approved more quickly as a result of the change in the law.

In response to the energy crisis, the EU member states wanted to expand renewables more quickly. Only Denmark implemented the directive on time. The Commission is now initiating infringement proceedings – Germany will probably also miss a second deadline.

Germany and all other EU states apart from Denmark have missed a legal deadline to accelerate the expansion of renewable energies and electricity grids. Due to the inadequate implementation of the Renewable Energy Directive (RED), the EU Commission initiated the first stage of infringement proceedings against the 26 states on Thursday, as the authority announced in Brussels.
