The SPD group in the European Parliament wants to stick to the 2035 ban on combustion engines for new cars, but the fines for failing to meet the 2025 climate targets are to be deferred or extended. This is stated in the car paper of the German SPD MEPs, coordinated by Tiemo Wölken. Provided that the reduction target is achieved, changes to the CO2 fleet legislation are possible.
