How many new gas or hydrogen power plants Germany should promote is a controversial issue between the CDU/CSU and SPD.

In the dispute over subsidies for new reserve power plants, the former red-green government warned Brussels shortly before the end of its term of office that the costs would be too high. The warning can be found in the opinion on the new CISAF state aid framework, which the Commission consulted on by the end of April and which is due to be adopted in June. The German government had to comment before the change of government in May. The Commission published all comments last week.
