The power of X: Lobbycontrol and MEPs call on Commission to act

Transparency and ethics watchdog LobbyControl, with Nina Katzemich, was waiting for MEPs on their first day in Parliament, early in the morning outside the building. He wants to ensure that, beyond all the discussions on the issues that matter today, the European Commission must ensure that the institutions' lobbying rules work and are applied, including the transparency register, which is weekly and full of loopholes. Transparency and ethical precautions that don't work are a problem for democracy. Their aim is that MEPs should make this a condition for voting in favour of Mrs von der Leyen. Lobbycontrol is calling on the Commission to take decisive action against the excessive influence of Big Tech. The non-governmental organization sees democracy as endangered by the monopoly power and political influence of companies such as Google, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, and Apple (GAMMA).
