Many electricity producers and consumers now have to wait a long time to be connected to the grid. The EU Parliament is therefore calling on the Commission to introduce clear criteria for the order in which grid operators process connection requests. It is to submit a proposal for an amendment to the Internal Electricity Market Directive by the end of the year, according to an own-initiative report adopted by the Industry Committee on Tuesday. Requests from consumers could, for example, be categorized according to their „strategic and/or social value“. The Commission intends to present a network action plan by the end of the year anyway.
