Four years before the statutory phase-out date, Finland will no longer use coal to generate electricity and heat this spring. This was announced by the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Helsinki on Tuesday. „By phasing out coal, this imported fossil energy will be replaced by cleaner solutions that reduce climate emissions, while consumers benefit from lower energy prices,“ said Environment Minister Sari Multala.
