In extending the Gas Storage Regulation, the EU Parliament wants to give Member States far-reaching freedoms for filling storage facilities in the summer months. The Member States are to be allowed to set their own interim targets for the months before the onset of winter, according to the compromise proposal published on Friday by rapporteur Borys Budka (EPP). The negotiators of the political groups met on Thursday. Until now, the interim targets have been based on the average filling level of previous years.
