Grid expansion: Court of Auditors concerned about financing.

Electricity storage systems can, for example, absorb feed-in peaks from solar systems and thus reduce grid expansion.

The European Court of Auditors is concerned about the poor credit ratings of electricity distribution system operators in the EU. Around 34 percent of 711 companies analyzed were given the lowest credit ratings, the ECA wrote in a report on Tuesday. To finance grid expansion, it is crucial that grid operators have good ratings and access to capital, said ECA member Keit Pentus-Rosimannus.
