According to a media report, the Commission wants to ban new supply contracts for Russian gas by the end of the year. This should also apply to purchases on the short-term spot market, which still account for a third of gas imports from Russia, the Bloomberg news agency reported on Monday. The announcement is part of the roadmap for the phase-out of Russian gas by 2027, which Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen intends to present in Strasbourg on Tuesday.
