SPD MEP René Repasi and German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil have opposed German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s call to repeal the Supply Chain Directive. „The demand to abolish the Supply Chain Directive came as a surprise to us because we discussed this at great length during the coalition negotiations,“ said the chairman of the European SPD, Réne Repasi, to journalists in Berlin on Monday. SPD leader Klingbeil also contradicted Merz. Of course, the new German government must reduce bureaucracy, Klingbeil said during a visit to Brussels. „But overall, we agreed that the supply chain law is important,“ he emphasized.
