The methane regulation could become part of an energy omnibus that may ease import regulations for natural gas. The NGO Clean Air Task Force warns in a letter to the EU energy ministers ahead of their meeting on June 16 against undermining the integrity of the regulation. The regulation governs obligations for the measurement and reporting of methane leakage during the extraction and transport of natural gas; starting in 2030, it will also include limits for imports.
