After the election, a big reshuffle begins in the German parliament – including on China policy. An evaluation by Table.Briefings shows that very few MPs have a strong expertise on the People’s Republic. The basic China policy stance remains the same in most parliamentary groups, but the departure of the liberal FDP from parliament means that several decidedly China-critical voices will no longer be represented. The social democratic SPD and the Left Party are set to realign their positions.
